My work has developed through a process of experimentation with different formats and narratives, allowing my background in architecture and urban studies to inform my practice as a visual artist. I have worked with documentary and experimental video, as well as installation and site-specific works. My videos and multimedia installations have addressed issues such as temporary cities, abandonment of urban areas, public housing, urban segregation, urban redevelopment, and public space as a terrain for cultural expression and social interaction. Manifestations of difference in cities has been a recurrent theme within my research, from the effects of gentrification and displacement in New York City to the living conditions defined by peripheral public housing in Santiago, Chile. The thread that connects these themes and perspectives is the interest to study the multi-layered significances of places and the political and social framework that defines the way space is created in the contemporary city.
